Joan White and her husband Roy came from Devon to work at Birkenhead YMCA in the 1970’s as youth workers.
They were a hugely popular hard working couple who served this organisation with exemplary dedication and distinction.
Their time in Birkenhead YMCA was not the happiest of their lives and eventually they decided to return to Devon.
Despite her modest background Joan was a very clever lady and wrote a book about her recollections of life at Colyton YMCA, which was published four years ago.
She was an ardent supporter of the re-branded YMCA Wirral and travelled up from Devon to help formally launch our new era in 2013.
To Joans family, Michael her devoted companion and everyone who knew her she will be deeply missed.
RIP dear lady—we will miss you very much.
