The basic skills of canal-boating are very quickly learnt. The first timer can set off on holiday confident that they have had all the help and instruction they need from a qualified handover team.

What’s It Going To Cost?

The cost of the one day course is £100.00 and the two-day course is £175.00 (both plus VAT), these prices include all food and refreshments served onboard the craft during the course along with free overnight accommodation onboard the boat, should you wish to take advantage of the two-day course programme.

The Syllabus

  • Boat handling
  • Personal Safety
  • Basic mechanical routines
  • Locks
  • Bridges & tunnels
  • The canal environment

The same course and syllabus is covered whether you attend for one day or two. The extra day gives opportunity for more practice, but also the chance to truly enjoy the experience of staying on the boat overnight. The course fees include accommodation (based on sharing a twin cabin) and all light refreshments, but exclude main meals, these will be taken at canal-side hostelries.
