Once again this year YMCA Wirralaere delighted to host student placements from the University of Chester.

Students have to complete 150 hours (minimum) during their placement.  The students this year spent time working with the Support Worker team, Rough Sleeper Initiative and Night Services aswell as gaining experience working in our Alcohol Awareness Hub and other parts of the YMCA.

HIV Awareness Training with Sahir House

YMCA Wirral has always been proud of our close working links with the highly respected local charity Sahir House, who are the Liverpool City Region’s largest and oldest continually operating LGBTQ+ charity – engaged in creating a brighter healthier future for our communities. Sahir has been supporting people living with HIV and our LGBTQ+ communities across Merseyside since the mid 1980s.

Sahir offer a range of service and are there for people when they need them most.   Sahir provide practical and emotional support, camaraderie and connection to LGBTQIA+ people and People living with HIV.

YMCA Wirral Staff recently took part in an excellent training session looking at HIV and raising awareness.  We hope to do more partnership working with Sahir in the future.
