This is our narrow boat: The Potential!

This unique assets gives us second to none access to green and blue spaces. We like to think of it as a floating well-being device.

We use The Potential for our wellbeing programme for our residents, for other charities to use, and for private bookings. Why? Because such a beautiful narrowboat should be used to its full ✨potential✨

Private bookings can be made with a suggested donation of £140

Your Day on the Potential: Two Beautiful Directions to Choose From

Whether you’re planning a slow, scenic cruise or a longer adventure, your trip can head in one of two gorgeous directions — towards Wharton’s Lock or towards Chester. Each offers its own charm, views, and places to pause along the way.

 

Eastbound: Wharton’s Lock & Beeston Castle – £140 suggested donation

A gentle round trip of around 2.5 hours is perfect for guests who want a relaxed outing with time to enjoy the scenery. As you cruise east, you’ll be treated to views of Beeston Castle, rising above the landscape as if from a storybook. You can also choose to stop at The Shady Oak pub for lunch, a lovely waterside break that adds extra time to your journey and lets you enjoy a meal right by the canal.

  • The Shady Oak pub — The option to stop for a relaxed lunch stop right on the water.
  • Beeston Castle views — A highlight of the eastbound cruise

 

Westbound: Cruise Towards Chester – £240+ suggested donation

If you’re looking for a longer, more immersive day out, the westbound roundtrip towards Chester offers 5+ hours of cruising. It’s a beautiful stretch of water with plenty of open countryside and charming canal‑side moments. You can pause at The Cheshire Cat pub (a popular stop) or choose to end your trip in Chester, which takes roughly 3 hours from departure.

  • Chester drop‑off — Ideal if you want to explore the city afterwards

 

Important: Turning Points Matter

Because the skipper is navigating along narrow canals, each journey will need to be planned so that you reach the designated turning point. The skipper can help to you make the decision based on your group’s needs.
