Everyone has a fundamental human right to safe and secure shelter. Somewhere to call home.

“Someone in this organisation believed in me and gave me that hope. That’s what the YMCA is all about…hope” said a former YMCA client.

In 2018, Shelter estimated 320,000 people were recorded as homeless in Britain. Comparative figures from 2017, shows 36 new people became homeless each day in 2018.

Most of the working public are just three paychecks away from homelessness, showing it really can happen to anyone.

Check out this video made by OON Media which follows clients and staff at the YMCA Wirral. The video explains how the night shelter functions and how the YMCA helps Wirral’s street homelessness by offering somewhere safe and warm to go.

If you would like to find out more about the night shelter then give us a call at 0151 650 1015.

If you are worried about someone sleeping on the streets and you think they are over 18, you can contact Street Link, which will alert the local authority for them to receive help. https://www.streetlink.org.uk
