Tai-Chi with China Spirit
Fridays, 11:00 – May-July
Tai Chi is a soft, gentle practice inspired by the graceful movement and longevity of animals like the turtle, tiger, and crane. As people move through Tai Chi forms, each posture is designed to create harmony within and around them. Over time, practicing these forms can promote a growing sense of calm, improved vitality, and better control over moods.
Despite the calm appearance of the exercises, the benefits run surprisingly deep:
People Commonly Experience:
• Better digestion and smoother circulation
• A calmer mind and steadier mood
• Deeper, easier breathing
• More energy throughout the day
And, something you may not expect: Tai Chi can strengthen your immune system, and research backs this up. A UCLA study found that older adults who practiced Tai Chi developed a stronger antibody response to the shingles vaccine than those who didn’t. Other studies show increased T cell activity and reduced inflammation (key markers of a healthy immune system). This happens because Tai Chi reduces chronic stress, improves circulation, and enhances lymphatic flow, all essential for immune resilience.
Tai Chi is gentle, but surprisingly powerful.
This practice won’t leave you breathless or drenched in sweat, yet it builds strength, flexibility, balance, and mental focus. And, consistency matters. Even one session a week, or just 20 minutes at a time, can make a difference. Our Tai Chi leader, Huicong, will help you find movements that suit your body and comfort level.
You only need to start small, to feel big results.
Practicing 3–4 times a week can shift your energy and overall wellbeing. Breath-focused forms and standing meditation (Zhan Zhuang) help to activate your internal power and deepen the benefits.
Tai Chi isn’t just exercise, it’s a path to being healthier, calmer and more balanced.
