CHECK OUT THIS VIDEO by OON Media & Theatre Reviews about our volunteers and their thoughts about the benefits that volunteering can bring, especially for an individual’s mental health.

“Volunteering is a two way street that helps open so many doors and gives opportunities that people otherwise would not get” said one of our volunteers.

Another added, “It gave me the confidence to gain employment.”

“I achieved the dream of becoming substance free through volunteering” said another member of our team.

Volunteering is a mutually beneficial relationship that continues to help so many people at the YMCA Wirral.

Our residents and volunteers have previously been a huge and important part of major community projects, for example spearing the development of the successful Winsford marina. We transformed the area into a tourist friendly location that was opened by celebrated boater and actor, Timothy West CBE.

We have created several other community initiatives such as; the Rucksack Challenge, our basic car mechanics course/ classic car project, street clean up days and therapeutic trips to our boating facilities on the inland waterways of Cheshire and the Norfolk Broads.

On May 15th 2019, a member of YMCA staff was invited to Buckingham Palace to the Queens garden party in recognition of her contribution to the work of the YMCA Wirral.

There are plenty of exciting opportunities for volunteers, whatever your interests, here at the YMCA .
