Our Accommodation

Our main site is located at 56 Whetstone Lane, Birkenhead, where we have an award winning 56 en-suite study bedrooms purpose-built building.

Wirral Overnight Safe Refuge for Rough Sleepers

The service is available between 22.00 and 07.00 seven days a week and is located at our main site.

We are one of Wirral’s providers of hostel type accommodation

The YMCAW has operated a scheme where clients do not lose their accommodation and are rewarded.

Supported Living Project

This is a successful partnership with One Vision Housing Group that the YMCA Wirral manages a 9 bed semi-independent supported housing scheme.

YMCA Wirral is a homeless prevention, support and accommodation service, based in Birkenhead, serving all the communities of Wirral. The organisation has established a proven track record and excellent reputation for providing high quality support and accommodation in being at the forefront of developing innovative bespoke housing and support service’s that not only engage with and inspire individuals, but also have substantial community benefit. Our skilled well trained staff work to deliver consistently excellent services meeting some of the highest and respected quality charter marks in the country.

By listening to our people and responding to what they tell us, we are able to deliver diverse safe accommodation and support services. Each year we support many people who are at risk by successfully promoting personal independence that will transform their lives and lead them into sustainable independent living. These include people with mental health or drugs or alcohol problems, street drinkers, ex-offenders and rough sleepers along with many other marginalised and socially excluded people aged 18 years and upwards.

We deliver a number of groundbreaking services that help prevent homelessness which range from our Wirral Overnight Safe Refuge for Rough Sleepers, to quality supported which includes hostel accommodation and move-on housing. YMCA Wirral is a leading organisation working in partnership with a range of housing and support agencies in the Greater Merseyside area, such as Local Authority Housing and Homelessness teams, Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service, Probation, PCT Mental Health, Hospitals, Police and emergency services. Our work aims to help homeless men and women get the vital support they need not only to enable them to succeed on their journey to recovery but also once they reach a stage where they gain their independence they can manage and maintain their home and feel safe and secure living in their local community as a responsible citizen.
