Emergency Triage Bedspaces Service

In March 2021, YMCA Wirral opened this new enhanced service that offers improved standards of overnight accommodation for those experiencing homelessness, or those at immediate risk.

Six en-suite bedrooms are grouped around a communal kitchen – with one room specially adapted for less abled persons.  The rooms are furnished to a high standard and offer comfortable safe surroundings as a short-term measure until more appropriate accommodation is sourced.

A dedicated In-Reach worker, direct links into WMBC Housing Options Team, and the RSI Team ensure that a seamless wrap around support is offered to those accessing this service.

How to access our emergency triage beds:

This is decided by local authorities, decisions are based on priority need. Local authorities have a duty to accommodate those experiencing homelessness, or those at risk of homelessness.

Whilst our Rough Sleeper Initative Team takes to the streets to locate those sleeping rough, the decision as to where the individual will next be placed is with  Wirral Council’s Housing Options.
